Aurora Aksnes was born on 15 June 1996 in Stavanger Norway. She is professionally known as Aurora and occasionally stylized using uppercase letters in the form of AURORA. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves is an album released in May 2015 from Decca Records. It has received high praise from the music press and bloggers. Aurora Aksnes' earliest musical memories involve finding an instrument hidden in her attic, and becoming fascinated with its sounds. Jan Oystein Aksnes' parents May Britt Aksnes advised her to pursue music for the sake of personal development, and not to earn a living or an interest. She started writing lyrics of her own. She credits renowned composers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an appreciation for the style of Bjork. When her mother said that her songs could not only help her get noticed, but also make others see their importance to the world and appreciate how they can benefit from the songs and her music, she was inspired to start playing in front of the public. The mother of her child suggested that she sing her songs in public in order to make people aware of their importance and the ways they could impact the world. It was unknown to her family members until she turned fourteen. Aurora had no idea of being famous. Aurora is simply a writer who loves writing songs. She claims that music is her preferred method of feeling anything.
