Anoushka Shankar
Anoushka Shankar is a British and American sitar player. She also sings. She is the youngest female and also the first woman to be awarded an official British House of Commons shield. Anoushka Shakar is a promising young emerging superstar on the Indian Sitar is Anoushka. She is a student as well as daughter of the legendary Ravi Shankar. She was born in 1982 in London. Her childhood years were split between London as well as New Delhi. The first time she performed was on stage in New Delhi at the tender age of thirteen. Then she relocated into Encinitas CA where she graduated from High School with honours in 1999. Although she is still very young Anouskha is a star in her performing and recording record. Her father was with her in many performances for several years. The year 1998 saw her released Anourag as her debut album as a solo artist. In 2002, she debuted her Grammy nominated album Live at Carnegie Hall. She has appeared at many famous venues throughout the world. Anoushka isn't just a musician. Bapi: The Love of My Live is her 2002 novel, and was a tribute to Ravi Shankar. She has also acted in movies in 2003. She was in the movie Dance Like a Man where she plays a young Bharat Natyam dancer. Anoushka shankar is a rising celebrity and her popularity will keep on growing. Anoushka Shankar is an English native who lived her early days split between London, Delhi and California. She began learning music at the age nine and was a sitar player to commemorate the 75th anniversary of her father's birth in Delhi the following year. As a part of her dad's band as his world tour, Anoushka had a wealth of experience performing on stage at Carnegie Hall while still in her teens performing at Peter Gabriel's WOMAD festival, and also recording together with George Harrison. She was the only female recipient of the House of Commons Shield awarded by the British Parliament in recognition of her talent and musical ability as an outstanding musician from the Asian Arts.
